Trouble Shooting Quick Guide

A. Pressure and Temperature Override Preset Level.
1. Pressure Switch - Adjust or replace

2. Wall Thermostat - Wall heaters should cut off at approx. 220 deg. F. (thermostat should be tight against chamber).

3. Reservoir filter stopped up and cannot bleed air from chamber.

4. Bellows defective and cannot bleed air from chamber.

B. Will not Build Temperature or Pressure
1. Insufficient water in chamber (not level-SLIGHTLY lower in front).

2. Air valve leaks excessively
a. trash
b. bad bellows
c. seat damaged

3. Defective over heat switch

4. Defective temperature or pressure gauge

5. Function switch out of adjustment

6. Door interlock not closing

7. Defective heaters

8. Main valve leaking

a. Trash on seat

b. Seat cut

C. Takes to Long to Build Pressure and Temperature
1. Load too large (fluids or instruments)

2. Defective wall thermostat (open)

3. Air valve leaks excessively (bellows or seat)

4. Low line voltage (208 or 220)

5. Overheat thermostat set too low

6. Heater burned out

D. Scorching Packs
1. Insufficient water in chamber

2. Packs touching chamber wall

3. Wall thermostat not cutting power to wall heaters
a. defective
b. not touching wall
c. leaving unit on after buzzer has sounded

E. Will not Dry Packs
1. Chamber not level

2. Filter not touching the bottom of chamber

3. Over loaded chamber (packed too tightly)

4. Packs are being soaked (soaked packs do not dry readily)

5. Failure to crack door at the end of cycle 1

F. Door Gasket Falls Out of Chamber
1. Defective door gasket

2. Opening door with pressure on it

G. Door Locking Ring Closes Hard
1. Rear guide pin on clamp ring out of the slot

2. Galling between lock ring and door (smooth burrs with oil stone)

3. Worn hinge pin bushings

H. Heat On Light Not On when Turned to Sterilize
1. Door locking pin not engaged
a. pin not fully closed
b. pin mechanism binding
c. solenoid interlock switch out of adjustment

I. Fills too Slowly
1. Dirty filter

2. Insufficient water in reservoir

3. Debris in main valve block

J. Vents too Slowly
1. Clogged filter in reservoir

2. Not level

3. Chamber filter not in place

4. Broken valve operator

K. Door Will not Open
1. Must have power to unit for solenoid to work

2. Depress door open button

3. Solenoid jammed or broken

4. One pound pressure switch defective

5. Door locking mechanism pin sheared or missing

6. Pressure in chamber

L. Timer Does Not Run
1. Defective timer

2. Defective latching relay

3. Defective pressure switch (micro switch)

4. Unit has not reached pressure

M. Buzzer Does Not Sound
1. Defective buzzer

2. Defective timer

3. Defective latching relay

MagnaClave Notes

1. To check main electric relay - unplug red wire on bottom of main valve power switch and plug it on relay coil at white wire connection (disconnect white wire)

2. Light should be on in the following sequence. Power off position - no lights; fill position-power on and open door lights on; vent position-power on and door light on; sterilize position-power on and (with door closed-handle down) heat light on. At end of cycle when timer times out, buzzer sounds and sterilizer light comes on.

3. Check relay, timer, and buzzer: Activate pressure switch relay should click in; timer starts; turn timer to zero buzzer should sound. To check pressure switch when switch is not engaged ; across common and normal closed will have continuity; across common to normal open with switch engaged will show continuity
